  • good, great at times, but I

There's a lot of hype around this recording and I just don't agree. Sure, some of the jams are wonderful. Sure, 97' is certainly a prime year for the band, but multiple 25:00 songs doesn't justify the pedestal this albums is thrown on. I will enjoy it and listen to it like many other multiple CD shows Phish puts out, there all good. Speaking of which, I just got a chance to enjoy the Alpine Valley release of 2010. This concert in my opinion is a better buy. The Antelope on this just smokes. It might be my favorite version ever. The long winded jams of Hampton seem lost and a bit tired compared to Alpine. I know there's a lot of years between the two...I guess I just don't agree with the lavish praise for the Hampton release.

These shows have been my favorite Phish shows since I had them on tape back in 1997. The 22nd is so epic that u can't skip a song. Piper->Antelope SICK

A must have. Phish in their prime. Remastered by Dr. Kevorkian himself. Sound quality is amazing. I purchased the ITunes in addition to the Hard copy. Money well spent. Many good hours of listening for 30 bucks.
  • great set

This is a very good set from a band at one of their peaks. People who say they are at their pinacle here probably need to listen to a broader date range. There are several other periods, like late 1993, where the band is also at a peak. August of 1993 is incredible. I suppose some of it depends on taste, but this is a great set.

This is Phish at the height of their collective powers! Fall '97 was when the band decided set 2 would consist of 5 songs, but we're still going to play for 90 minutes. Creative, inspiring, dark, and funky describe the direction of the jamming contained in these tracks. A must listen for the newbies and a walk down memory lane for the vets. Either way, this is not to be missed!

The boys at their best. An incredible display of musical improvisation and vocal harmonies while concurrently playing very, very tight through several overly complex compositions.

Fall of 97 equals the pinnacle of this band's illustrious career, IMHO. The 97 Holiday Run and the spring 98 Island Tour were fun, but this southern run is absolutely insane. The confident creativity is astounding. Highly recommended. Thanks to Phish for finally offering up these 3 classic gems!
