  • Art of Song

This is a very interesting release. Just read through any online reviews for Bocelli recordings and it's clear he's a polarizing character. I have heard so many mediocre voices in my time I don't know why Bocelli inspires so much venom by so-called opera cognoscenti. I know plenty about opera and have been a fan my whole life and I've heard so many unacceptable voices sing at the Met that to target Bocelli seems just totally odd at this point. So to say "he's not an opera singer" is the most common slander, but this recital here is an "art of song" recital designed not to wow you with high notes soaring above huge orchestrations, but rather to show off the versatility and technique of singing. Art song is not a lot of people's cup of tea. Bocelli has "crossed over" into so many disciplines from grand opera to cheesy italian pop, to traditional art songs and arias, I had been waiting a long time for a record like this which is simply a voice and a piano. I've followed Bocelli's career for 15 years now and I'm happy to report that he's never sounded so good. This release coincided with perhaps his most audacious assault on the classical music world so far: Bocelli had the gaul to perform a recital at the Metropolitan Opera on Feb. 13, 2011 (this record was released on the 8th). If his live performance there was half as good as this I'm sure many people left the opera house happy...and isn't that the point?

A beautiful collection of classical songs, Most not readily know to the casual listener, but very beautiful and I think most will love this album.

Another great album from Bocelli. I would love to here him sing Brian Crain's Andante Cantabile.

This will be the first time that I will not buy Andrea's album. This is definitely the worst Album he has made. Extremely disappointing.

I have soo much respect for him. He is blind and sings like an angel but he can do better. I love his christmas album especially the song "I believe" and "What child is this". But still he is wonderful!!!!
