Finally, Itunes has heard my request for this release and I am truly thankful to them! Doc Severinsen was heavily criticized for recording this release as it was judged by jazz purist as purely commercial product and a step below what Doc was capable of. However, with Tom Scott and Hank Cicalo as producers, this album showed that Doc could be hip and classic simultaneously. The evidence is in the variety of the tracks from the upbeat Do It To It to Doc's sultry cover of Shenandoah to close out the set. The rhythm section is tightly supplied by Rick Marotta, Ralph MacDonald with Anthony Jackson on bass and Lee Ritenour on rhythm guitar and guest performances by the late Eric Gale and Richard Tee. All things considered, smooth jazz owes a lot to Doc and this album. Once again, thank you Itunes.
