Good music is timeless. The production of any given song/album can peg it to an era, but when you take a song down to its bare elements, you truly see its beauty and value. That's exactly what we encounter with De-Plumed. Many of my fave Chior tunes are one here, and hearing them again, ah-naturale, gives them new meaning. Love Your Mind is a song that I have listened to, literally, hundreds of times (repeat, repeat, repeat). I'm listening to the De-Plumed version and am so blown away. Steve's lyrics and Derri's melody create an amazing love song. Hearing this great song this way shows a gentleness and purity that doesn't as readily stand out in the original. Thanks Steve and Derri!!! I own a TON of music, from every genre, from styles that span the last 60+ years. And I have to say that this is one of the MOST beautiful albums I have ever heard. It's a MUST-have for fans and a MUST-MUST have anyone, like me, who loves good music. A fan for 24 years....and counting.

Oh my, this is an amazing release. To me, it comes across a big "Thanks for listening" to all the fans, new and old. To hear the old stuff ("Dreams" and "15 Doors") redone is a real hoot. Whereas the original "Dreams" (on "Voices in the Shadows") sounds dated, this rendition is fresh and relevant. The cello work from Matt Slocum (Sixpence None the Richer) is such an elegant and fulfilling addition to the songs. It's great to hear Derri's vocals (stronger than ever) upfront singing Steve's lyrics. Great job, guys. Thank you for playing your music. I'll keep listening.
  • The second new Choir album in one year!

Wow, 2010 has been a great year for fans of The Choir. First we were treated to the band's all new album "Burning Like The Midnight Sun" and then from out of nowhere comes "de-plumed" which has one song for each of their past 12 albums, redone with stripped down arrangements and acoustic instruments. These reworked versions are absolutely beautiful and truly amazing to listen to. This is a must have for anyone even remotely interested in The Choir (and if you haven't bought "Burning Like The Midnight Sun", pick that up as well), you won't be disappointed. A heart felt thanks to all of the Choir boys for continuing to put out such wonderful music for your fans.

The Choir's "unplugged" LP is here and it fits the bands mono style. A little of every LP through the years. They attempted to change the style from the original and they did a great job. There were songs that were either re-discovered or i never paid attention too in the past that i now love because of the new version. I love there new CD "Midnight Sun" too.

After releasing their latest incredible album earlier this year, Burning Like The Midnight Sun, they turn around with another great album. A collection of songs, some chosen by fans, and redone in an intimate, acoustic style like only The Choir can. Why The Choir never got the critical acclaim they so richly deserve is beyond me. Their entire catalogue is absolutely phenomenal and while some bands that have been together as long as they have put out semi-good albums so late in their career, The Choir seem to keep putting out stellar efforts. If you have not got this album, you need to, because the way these songs have been redone acoustically just brings out another 'side' to them and makes you appreciate them even more. If you haven't bought Burning LIke The Midnight Sun yet, that is a must-have album as well, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!! Many thanks to The Choir for putting this out as it is yet again another incredible album for the fans to savor!!!

With a song from each of their albums, masterfully re-done and stripped to its essentials, this collection is a must for all Choir fans.

de-plumed; laid bare; exposed; featherless. Grammy nominated, Dove Award winning & critically acclaimed group The Choir has recorded twelve studio albums over the past twenty five years. With the input of their loyal fan-base, the group selected one song from each album and re-recorded them acoustically. Intimate and vulnerable renditions of classic and current material are augmented with expressive cello arrangements performed by Matt Slocum of Sixpence None The Richer. Produced by Steve Hindalong and Derri Daugherty of The Choir (also City On A Hill/God Of Wonders). Songs from de-plumed are represented from the following catalog of releases by The Choir: 1984 Voices in Shadows 1985 Shades Of Gray 1986 Diamonds and Rain 1988 Chase the Kangaroo 1989 Wide-Eyed Wonder 1990 Circle Slide 1993 Kissers and Killers 1994 Speckled Bird 1996 Free Flying Soul 2000 Flap Your Wings 2005 O How the Mighty Have Fallen 2010 Burning Like the Midnight Sun
