Ok, so yes, the record sounds like 1987. Trower was in the wilderness for a few years before he made this record as tastes had shifted. But Passion is not without considerable merit. "No Time" got a considerable amount of airplay and remains a favorite for many fans, and Davey Pattison (formerly in Gamma with Ronnie Montrose) distinguishes the album with his passionate, heartfelt vocals; he suits these songs perfectly. Passion put Trower back on the map, it was his first record since BLT to crack the Billboard Top 100 (not bad for an independent label), and resulted in Atlantic signing him for a two album stint. Robin makes music for himself first & has never pandered to fans or suits. Of course it's not Bridge Of Sighs, comparing it is absurd. Trower is more sublime here, but definitely rocking more than say, Caravan To Midnight. Take this record on it's own terms, in the era & under the circumstances it was recorded.
Note to TJSample: You give Passion 1 star & then ask where "Beyond The Mist" is? Seriously? I have it (and I'm glad I do, album & disc & cassette), but that said, Passion is hands down a much stronger album.
