  • Possibly his best....

When this album first dropped, I ignored it categorically. I don't know why I did as I usually jump on new Jack material. I just didn't get too excited about live versions of songs i already owned and listened to constantly. I had the fortune of a chance listen while I was out shopping one day. The store i was in was playing it and it just completely derailed my train of thought. I'm so glad that I happened to hear it, because it might just be his best album. At worst it's right up there with In Between Dreams. I had no idea. It just took me 5 years to realize it. You just get a different feel for these songs when he does them live and the result is amazing. There's so many factors that go in to making this unique. The songs are largely more stripped down and less produced (obviously) than the album versions. When you are as talented as Jack is, you don't need much. Less is more when with artists of this caliber. In fact, some of these live versions are actually superior to their album versions. Constellations, in particular, is possibly two full star levels above it's album version. Zach Gill is another huge difference maker in having live Jack songs. You have to love the signature sound of his accordian and that other instrument that he plays on stage (i have no idea what it is). His piano skills are also a blessing to many of these songs. I didn't have to see Zach playing the piano to know it was him. He's just got a certain way of playing. Ironically, I only truly appreciate Zach when he performs with Jack. I don't really get down with his solo/ALO albums too much. When his vocals are front and center, i just get bored. But he's an absolute perfect supporting artist with Jack. The recording quality is excellent for live shows. The vocals and instruments are near studio quality and there's just enough crowd noise to add excitement without drowning out the performance. The songs selected for this compilation are also comprehensive and perfect. Included are every single one of his best songs and they span the whole of his career to that point. The stats are impeccable in fact. Out of 20 songs, there's eleven 5 star songs and nine 4 star songs. It's almost unheard of to have a regular sized album with nothing weaker than 4 stars - much less an album with 20 songs.

Quite possibly my favorite album. I can't stop listening to it. All his live albums are good, but I think this one's the best.
  • "There's a naked baby!"

This album captures the JJ and FOJJ live experience very well. Just saw him in Raleigh this past week, and the entire experience was transcendent. The interaction with crowd and his humility as a performer and songwriter really created a special connection. What cracks me up was he was stumbling over some words at the end of one of his songs...then pauses and tells us "there's a naked baby right here...haha...hey, may want to put some clothes on that baby..." chuckling the entire time....that pretty summed up the whole thing. Oh...and closing the night with Home is genius....the Spade Cowboy cover too...
  • Amazing! So Proud:)

Just recently became a fan after seeing a concert on tv. I just had to add these guys to my iTunes library! This is an awesome album! I love the blend of reggae , rock, folk sound they have. It has a happy , positive feel to much of the music. Can't wait to see what else they come out with next!
  • 5 Stars!

Jack Johnson is one of the few artists today who actually sound better live, because he uses little to no auto tune and can actually sing. All of his songs in this album are just amazing, except maybe Staple It Together. I don't like that song anyway, but a rap? In a Jack Johnson song? Oh dear god. Other than that, though, it's a great album and I highly recommend it. I especially love Angel/Better Together.
  • Love It!!!!!

I have EVERY Jack Johnson album and this is the best one by just a lil.... Every album he makes is amazing, but this one is the best :-)
  • Quite literally the best "live" album I've ever heard

This album is amazing. For a live album the audio is stunningly perfect. And while this is a collection of songs from various locations (rather than a single show), the songs are chosen to make a perfect album. The addition of a few guest stars doing fantastic songs just adds to the fun. (Country Road is one of my new favorite songs) I can't say enough about this album other than just buy it.
