...don't expect to hear the bebop stylings of Freddie Hubbard here, this record is not about that-this is straight-up jazz/funk. The players are hittin' it, and the tunes are well written, with some excellent chord-change surprises! As a pro musician myself (45 years), I've gotta' say that some of my favorite musical moments are on this album. I could do without the cover of "Midnight At The Oasis", but the rest stands up musically-just be prepared to hear the funky Freddie, not the jazz virtuoso. This is great ensemble playing, people-give the album credit for what it is intended to be!
