In addition to REALLY enjoying this album I was trying to note how many instruments I heard in “We Still Party”. It’s sad that people slept on this album, because this is a party album!!! Quick is a genius!

  • West Coast Classic!!!

If you've never heard of DJ Quik and you're looking for some great west coast hip-hop check out an album like Rhytm-Al-Ism by DJ Quik. His style is often compared to the great Dr. Dre, but DJ Quik uses a lot less sampling and creates his own instrumentals often without using interpolations like Dr. Dre does. Rhythm-Al-Ism is one of my favorite DJ Quik albums. It features some of his best songs including "Hand In Hand", "Down, Down, Down", "Medley For The V", "Speed", and many others. It's a shame that DJ Quik is so underrated when Dr. Dre gets all of the west coast producer shine and attention. Albums like this, Quik Is The Name, Way 2 Fonky, Safe + Sound, Under Tha Influence, Balance & Options, and Trauma should be in every hip-hop fan's collection. You won't be disappointed with any of his albums if you enjoy good music with creativity and smooth melodies. I can't recommend this album enough! It really is that good. Get his whole catalog!

This jam is just so sick it's really hard to know where to start. I really go back and forth between this one and safe & sound as my favorite stuff from Quik. Everything with El DeBarge just has such melody ... this stuff like safe & sound is timeless.

This is one of my favorite Quik Albums. Actually all of DJ Quik's albums are great. Great beats and production. I also like the new DJ Quik and Kurupt album "BlaQout". I was also thinking about different R&B and Hip-Hop Collabs. Like R. Kelly & Jay-Z or Bow Wow & Omarion, I wish they would make a DJ Quik & El DeBarge Collabo!! That would Knock!!
