A Funky, Jazzy, Lost Classic Soundtrack

One of the great, gritty 1970s movies (in the vein of "The Friends of Eddie Coyle"), the soundtrack by David Shire has been a album music-crate and import-only hidden gem for years. It only took 7 years, but iTunes finally put the official soundtrack to "The Taking of Pelham 123" out for sale. Take a listen to the Main and End Titles, the four "Money" songs, along with "Fifty Seconds", to get the feel of a desperate, intense, and malaise of early 1970s NYC. The whole album is a STEAL for only $10.
I only hope that the wrong hip-hop artist doesn't discover the greatness of this soundtrack, and "reinterpret" it. We saw what happened to Curtis Mayfield's R&B classic "Move On Up" when Kanye West was done with it.
