Frolov is new to me but I'd like to hear some more before making a final judgement. This is fine salon music with a bit of flash and trash to boot. It's all in good fun and any one of these pieces would make for a nice encore to a recital. I'm still pretty sure that the Etude No 1 was a copy of a Kreutzer etude but who's to say. The playing is solid and the sound recording is good. Bravo to Naxos for finding new and interesting things to record! Where would we be without them?
