one of his last best albums ever - cohesive and full of funk. We miss you prince - and thank you!

In my opinion, this was Prince’s best album because it showcases how prolific of an artist he really was. He goes from clubby “Race” to almost heavenly “Solo” all on one album. You rarely if ever see that with an artist. He was such a huge loss to the world of music.
  • Overlooked, one of his best albums

Before I bought this record people said this record was terrible and one of the worst in the catalog. After listening to this record I quite liked it. Sure maybe it's not nessecarily my cup of tea ALL the time, but this record has some good jams on it. My only word of caution is to listen to that last song WITHOUT anyone around. It's the track that will make your family unacquainted with the über sexy side of Prince disgusted.
  • Great - Don't believe the bad reviews

This album is quite obviously peak 90's Prince. Really, if we want to be real here, this album is only bested by Diamonds and Pearls and probably tied with Gold Experience for about as good as Prince got in the 90's. Anybody giving this a bad review today is probalby in one of 3 boats. Boat 1 - they bought it when it came out and believe me, it was a weird time for Prince fans in 1993. Boat 2 - They read a bunch of bad reviews or have bought into the anti-hype that this is somehow a bad album because Prince was on some kind of decline or something then. Boat 3 - They listened to the samples and decided to rip on it. Here's the baot to be on - this is a great Prince album. The interludes are a little silly, a little bit much, but come on - it's Prince. The songs are great Come is actually one of the weaker tracks on the album but it's still pretty solid. Things really take off with Space and the cool, weird, trippy, sexy stuff doesn't let up much for the rest of the way. Solo kind of slows things down, but overall, "come" on man, this is good stuff. It's not a literal 5 star album when ranked with all official Prince albums, but it's definitly in the top 15 or so.

This album may not be perfect, but it's a good album nonetheless. "Come" the song is a long sexual dance electric groove that will put anybody in the mood. "Letitgo" is a reminder of funk past. "Loose" is like that crazy relative you don't want to hang around with too often cause you know something is about to jump off. And "Dark" could rank up there with some of his best ballads. "Solo" seems like something that belongs on Old Friends For Sale. Not this album! Doesn't fit I always said. May not be in the top ten of Prince albums but still good enough for the top twenty.
  • Worth your time

This was supposedly a throwaway album for Prince to get him out of his WB contract. That being said, it's a solid album front to back. The song Come is too long at 11 minutes and Orgasm at the end is basically an orgasm with a guitar solo. However, with the Come concept it actually kind of makes sense. My favorites are Pheremone, Space, Race, Loose! and Papa. While the title track is too long, Papa could be a little longer. Just when it starts to pick up it ends. This is an album that will really grow on you. More funk than pop, but it still shows the diversity of Prince's styles.

I agree with other reviewers- this album was overlooked due to his name change and dispute with Warner. People just dissed him all over but there are some amazing tracks on here. Space, Loose, LetitGo... It's hard to rank Prince's best works. Each stands on its own. He was constantly reinventing himself which was hard for people who just wanted another Purple Rain but how many Mona Lisas are there? Just one! Gotta keep moving forward. This album is worth picking up for sure.

One of the very best prince albums ever. I bought this when I was a young man an love it still to this day! Very well put together the way the songs flow into each other an tell a sudo sexual story along with the how great it sounds on a set of high quality headphones is pure audiogasmic. R.I.P PRINCE THE GREATEST EVER.
