  • Great single, bad mix

I'm not sure if it's how the song is mixed, or if it's just how Barry has been singing in later years, but I am finding it increasingly hard to understand what he is singing on his more recent songs. While the two exclusive singles for iTunes are good, both suffer from a mix that makes the vocal tracks almost unintelligible. This song, "Underworld" is the better of the two in terms of both the song and the sound quality and harkens back to the Bee Gees best tunes.

My kids would call this a head banger-- you need to turn it up and enjoy the beat. Music is a matter of personal taste. If you like the body of Barry Gibb's work you will like this.

Good Lord this man still has it! Barry has moved into the next phase of his life--adapting, changing, and growing as an artist with all the style and smoothness he brings to any endeavor. Can't wait to hear his country album next year!!

I just downloaded the songs Mr. Mann and Underworld. They are definately Bee Gees style with Funky Barry GIbb Twist. Reinds me of Now Voyager but with a breathy voice that Barry is using lately (as on his second Duo Album with Barbara Streisand, Guilty too). I am long time fan of the Bee Gess and Barry Gibb and Always looing forward to new material not to prove themselves anymore (because they did many many times over and over) but to enjoy their novelties and musical wealth. Thanks Barry for the million times. Looking forward for your new album (country?!).

A fantastic uptempo new piece of music from the prolific Barry Gibb, reminiscent of their music from the Sat Night Fever/Tragedy era with a bit of a hard edge

Barry Gibb has been turning out pop charmers for decades. Although "Underworld" doesn't grab you like most of his bigger hits, it seems to be a song that begs repeated listenings nonetheless. It suggests that something bigger is on the horizon.

Both Dr. Mann & Underworld sound like most of the filler that was on the last few Bee Gees albums. Gibb's gift has always been his knack for writing winning melodies and unfortunately neither of these tracks is memorable in that regard. Lyrically bland, white boy funk with his now patented "breathy" lead vocals. Hopefully his 2007 country album will rekindle that "memorable tune gene" that seems to have gone dormant in Mr. Gibb.
