I don’t know what the rest of you are hearing but this is on par with a Carcass cover band doing originals. They died after Heartwork. RIP.

This is an interesting album no doubt. I dont hate it. In fact I enjoy most of the music. I admire Carcass's abillity to fearlessly expand and explore new musical territory with every album. However, its just not hitting me as immediately as did Surgical Steel and to me that says something. Its rare that I have a sense of hesitation embracing a new Carcass album completely, but here I am. I'm usually completely all in and blown away or entirely disapointed and that only happened once (I was and still am repulsed by Swan Song.)There are lots of really cool riffs and a few excellent songs, but as a whole aibum I'd say its a bit lacking. Still, I'm glad to hear new music from these guys. Great band.
