This album threw people for a loop, as it was the first time he got a bit more spiritually in our face then previously, although that was ALWAYS part of Prince’s life and music from Purple Rain to Annie Christian to God to Rainbow Children etc etc etc… But it’s still crazy experimental, funky and totally original! Only Prince was capable of being so original and great and totally… Prince! Highlights are Dance On (should have been a single!), Positivity & Alphabet St!!! Ya all should be glad it’s now available as separate tracks, it was tracked on CD as one track for years!

This is the album that really made Prince stand out as a conceptual artist. It wasn't just pop, just funk, just soul, just rock....it's all of those genres rolled into one paisley soup. His boldness and bravery is more than just the cover. This is not music, this is a trip!

This is one of Prince’s best concept albums. It’s a shame that the radio stations only played Alphabet Street.
