Glad they reunited, but like the previous album, this one is utterly bland.

This album is as good as, if not better, than Hopes and Fears! They are back and I can’t wait for the concert!!
  • A fine album beginning to end

I’ve been a fan of Keane ever since I first heard the single Somewhere Only We Know back in the day at the local cd store, and I still live every song on Hopes and Fears and Under the Iron Sea. The albums following those two were, for me, very disappointing. Strangeland was a album half full of good songs. But THIS album is finally a return to Keane, the band who best makes melancholy lyrics feel so personal, and while being sad, they still manage to show the bright side of life (if you haven’t ever heard Snowed Under off of their first album, do so now). After listening through this deluxe version from beginning to end two times, and after watching the new videos for the 2 singles, I recommend the whole thing. The acoustic versions are also very lovely. The lyrics for Stupid Things probably touched me the most. Both versions are beautiful. Tom’s vocals are truly amazing on every song. You won’t regret this purchase.

When Keane exploded upon the scene with their groundbreaking album Hopes and Fears, they made waves. Big waves. But those waves were short lived in the US where it seems that if you aren’t the flavor of the day, you aren’t worth a listen. More of their introspective, textured and thought provoking sounds followed with Under the Iron Sea, Perfect Symmetry, Night Train, and the almost perfect Strangland. The demons that followed lead singer Tom Chaplin’s personal life followed like a shadow in the dark simutaniously providing musical inspiration and the impetus to tear the band apart. And so a heartbreaking hiatus followed. But now, Keane have returned with a cautious yet optimistic album full of of the magic that makes them so profound. Soft hooks, Edgy pop grinds, and that pure Keane sound that makes them one of the most overlooked sounds of a generation. This, THIS is the band that the future should be looking to for their inspiration. Buy this album and listen to it loud and in the dark. You will not regret it.

I did not expect this to be as good as it is. I really thought they were done. I really did. I was wrong. What a beautiful collection of songs. What an absolutely gorgeous record. Keane has grown up. Hopes and Fears was the young adult years. Now we have the midlife years. This record is astonishing. I love it and it is number 2 to Hopes and Fears.

I’m loving it and honestly wasn’t sure we’d ever get a new album. I’ve listened through it probably 10x now and definitely think it’s the best since Hopes and Fears. There’s so much emotion in each song. To those saying it doesn’t sound like them, I’d ask if you actually listened to everything? The sad lyrics, soaring Tom vocals and piano riffs are what Keane is. Put the radio on crescendos to one their best choruses ever. Thread’s lyrics are heartbreaking and beautiful. If you’re a fan of Keane, put your headphones on and crank it up. I’d be shocked if you didn’t love it.

Although I was expecting a little be less popular vibe and more experimental Keane, the one I used to know, this whole albums is very elevated as any other previously released by them, It still got the Sadness that we are so like to feel from their songs. I can see it, Cause and Effect will definitely become my ME time for a really long time !!!!
