Emo, post hardcore from early 2000s, transcended into modern perfection.

To keep it short and sucinct, this is a stunning piece of work, from top to bottom. Mesmerizing. Bears heavy rotation without wearing out its welcome. Buy it!

  • A Triumphant Return to Form

As a long time fan, I was hoping against hope that this album would ignite me like "Deja Entendu" did, or how "God and the Devil..." filled out Jesse's poetic lyrics with mature sounding guitars and composition. "Daisy" for me was a disappointing and forgettable album, so it's with surprise that I heard about this album after a seven year drought, and it's with trepidation that I purchased it. "Science Fiction" is a triumphant return to form for Brand New, and yet is different from all their other albums. It is a more mature sounding, albeit quieter album, but with a variety of songs that are still saturated with thoughtful, conflicted lyrics. From "Can't Get it Out", to "Could Never Be Heaven", right down to "451" and "Batter Up" the songs have a wide range, and none, none are forgettable. If this truly is their last album, they left us with a parting gift of magic that will fill out speakers for years to come. I now can hope against all hope that they are not disbanding, but if so, can thank Jesse, Vinnie, Brian and Garrett for their music, from one Long Islander to another. Well done.

Was somewhat a Brand New fan before, but this album is simply incredible. Listen it to it 2 or 3 times and you will receive a magical musical gift.

I have anticipated a new album from brand new for a very long time. An amazing follow up to Daisy, if this is truly the end, this band is going out with a bang!
