Dependable

If you're a fan of wandering down Jay Farrar's lonesome highway's then this most recent contribution won't disappoint. 'Notes of Blue' fit s squarely into the Son Volt canon. Dependable and a little bit too worn in to be commendable. I do hope that he-Jay Farrar- will inhabit the same spirit that created 'Graveyard Shift' before he becomes what he worships: an obscure bluesman.

Completely void of overproduction and other electronic enhancement nonsense. IT IS NO NONSENSE, and delivers rare variety from tranquil to darkest of dark to punchin' it; love the guitar tone. And Farrar's voice...man...A voice that is PURE tone.

The new Son Volt release "Notes of Blue" feels like it could've been the follow up to Wide Swing Tremolo or Straightaway. For a long time fan, that's great news. I've enjoyed some of the other releases, but this just feels / sounds right.

This new Son Volt album is fantastic. Sounds a lot like early albums. It has variety, emotion, rock and best of all Jay Farrar's vocals and soul. You'll love yourself if you buy it.

I'm in love with this new Son Volt album. Very reminiscent of the first two Son Volt albums. Jay's voice still sounds absolutely fantastic.

Jay Farrar is one of the all time greats, end of story. A true poet with a hauntingly beautiful voice. This album does not disappoint.
