  • Bocelli: The Opera Album

I know I am no expert in the art of sining, but I know what moves my soul and Bocelli moves me. I have loved opera for over 60 years and I feel I have some expertise in deciding what is good and what is bad. I admit his voice is more lyric than spinto, but he brings a new dimension to these roles. It is not fair to compare him to other great tenors and there are plenty of them; take Bocelli on his own merit or let him be. Judge for yourself!

You have to appreciate Opera to appreciate this masterpiece. I have had this album since it released and i have heard it a million times! The selection of these masterpieces is brilliant from the best known Operas. I have used the CD to relax and meditate.
  • NOT an opera singer

He should not have tried to sing these arias. They are WAY too big for him. Not good at all. Very Weak

It's hard to be a young tenor, really trying to master opera music and you hear bad technique like this and how popular he gets. Please listen to any normal classically tried singer that has actually had to work on their technique and musical skills. He does have talent, but not the work ethic it really takes to make the music sound right. Other comments about his training, please, a masterclass does not count as "training" they only can point out a couple things. Bocelli really needs to stick to pop opera. It's a slap in the face when you make great tenor arias sound sluffy!
  • ANDREA HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL

David Foster once said, "Andrea has the voice of an angel.", personally I couldn't agree more. Others may compare him to Pavarotti and I know Andrea may not as powerful as him. but I just like Andrea's voice. to me, everytime i play his CD, i'm touched, i felt that an angel was singing. everybody has a place on this earth and is unique and should not be compared to anyone else, cause everybody is different. u will love this Cd and most of all his voice, let us just listen without comparisons and with an open mind.
  • Unfair reviews

Those of you comparing him to Pavarotti and Bjorling are giving him an unfair opinion. They are considered some of the greatest singers ever, uncomparable I know. And what good does it do to critique and look down upon someone who's not quite on par with the best in the genre, ever. Do we compare every composers abilities with mozart or bach? An NFL player with a heismann legend? Of course not. If every critic viewed things that way there would be no point in pursuing a career that someone else is doing, because if they can do it better than you, or have a different way of doing it that is preferred by them than you would get nothing. He is an amazing singer in his own way and as such deserves to be critiqued in that fashion.
  • People Dont know what they are talking about.

This is a good collection of music, and yes, Andrea Bocelli has been trained in opera by Pavorotti and Franco Corelli. Don't listen to the reviews saying bocelli wasn't trained in opera because he was.
  • Pavarotti Si, Bocelli No

Bocelli sounds strained and almost unlistenable. Compare "Questa o Quella" to versions by Jussi Bjorling, Alfredo Kraus or Luciano Pavarotti. You feel like you are witnessing a miracle with these singers, not listening to someone who just ran a track meet. To paraphrase the NY Times, Pavarotti's voice takes on an emotional richness, with half-voice and pianissimos that are irresistible. Bocelli may sing some stuff well, but he does not belong in this arena.

"Let Andrea sing Miserere...for there is no one finer." -Luciano Pavarotti Apparently Operatenor and many other clowns out there know it better than Luciano?
